WWDC22: iOS 16, WatchOS 9, Apple Silicon M2, MacBook Air, macOS Ventura… Everything you need to remember from the keynote

Many new features in the OS

No VR headset from Apple this time, but WWDC 2022 is a really interesting vintage with many improvements on the different operating systems made in Cupertino. In iOS 16, for example, you will find a new lock screen that can be personalized with precise clipping of images in the background. Apple has also vastly improved voice input for Messages. On the home side, the Matter standard is adopted by the apple and you can control various connected equipment from your smartphone or tablet.

Apple also introduced a next-gen CarPlay app. It will make it possible to customize the dashboards of compatible vehicles (many manufacturers seem to be involved in the project).

After iOS 16, macOS is of course the center of attention and now has a new name: Ventura.

The M2 is here!

On the hardware side, the arrival of the new Apple Silicon M2 chip is confirmed. It will find its place in a completely redesigned MacBook Air and a small update to the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The Silicon M2 chip incorporates a next-generation 8-core CPU, as well as a GPU unit with now up to 10 cores, two more than the M1 chip. This M2 also adds an innovative media engine and a powerful ProRes video engine for hardware accelerated encoding and decoding.
