Through Unplugged Performance, Von Holzhausen offers new upholstery for Teslas made with bamboo.

Teslas are among the first electric cars to feature synthetic leather in their cabins, instead of animal skin. To go further in customization, Unplugged Performance and Von Holzhausen are joining forces to offer more qualitative upholstery.

The first company is known to be one of Tesla’s best tuners. In addition to the body kits, there is also a complete catalog of parts to improve the chassis. But the tuner now offers new solutions to dress the Palo Alto electrics. For this, he teamed up with Von Holzhausen, a company specializing in natural leather accessories. Behind the company hides Vicki von Holzhausen, who is neither more nor less than the wife of Franz von Holzhausen, the chief designer of Tesla. The loop is closed, without there being any link between the entities.

A new high-end vegan leather for the Tesla

The leather used is made from bamboo, up to 83%. According to the company, it is three times lighter than traditional cowhide leather, while being “soft as butter” to the touch and resistant to scratches and stains. This production also makes it possible to reduce the carbon footprint by three compared to the usual leather.

First available with caramel or cherry shades, this will bring a little more color to the interior of the Tesla, dressed in black or white leather. Europe will not be forgotten, but it will be necessary to wait until 2023 to order. A refundable deposit of $500 is required for the reservation, before signing a check for $29,995 for a complete interior.
