This is not the promise of an obscure institute for the fight against aging, but the results of research carried out at Boston University and published this Monday in the journal Nature Neuroscience.

Transcranial stimulation techniques have been the subject of numerous studies for more than a decade, particularly in the management of certain cognitive disorders associated with neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, dementia with Lewy bodies, etc.). The two main modalities are magnetic stimulation, which can transiently modify the activity of a brain area, and electrical stimulation, which modulates the response capacity of neurons to natural activation. Although promising, these techniques are not yet routinely used in the clinical setting.
