the Ministry of Health will extend vaccination to the most exposed groups

Vaccination will be offered to the groups most at risk of contracting the virus “from the beginning of next week”. These include men who have sex with men and who have multiple partners.

The government follows the recommendation of the High Authority for Health. This Friday, François Braun, Minister of Health and Prevention, announced that preventive vaccination will be offered to people at high risk of being infected with the monkeypox virus, in the face of the outbreak of cases.

“We will organize so that it can be available, for those who want it, from the beginning of next week,” he wrote in a tweet.

HAS recommendation

Earlier in the afternoon this Friday, the High Authority for Health (HAS) had announced that it recommended “that a preventive vaccination be offered to the groups most exposed to the virus”, that is to say ” men who have sex with men and trans people who have multiple partners, people in a situation of prostitution, professionals working in places of sexual consumption”.

“This opinion will be followed”, announced shortly after Jérôme Salomon, Director General of Health, during a press briefing.

The Minister of Health and Prevention, through the Directorate General of Health, had seized the HAS last week on the relevance of expanding vaccination, currently reactive since people are vaccinated “contact cases”.

If the majority of the cases identified concern the aforementioned groups, “other vulnerable groups are also at risk”, also recalled a spokesperson for the WHO.
