Tesla delivers first German-made models to customers

Elon Musk took his jet yesterday to reach Germany for the inauguration of the Berlin factory, Tesla’s first in Europe. Since this morning, around thirty customers have been able to collect their Model Y Performance directly from the manufacturer.

The Berlin plant is officially operational

The first European Gigafactory was announced two years ago. After some mishaps with the law, the Berlin factory was quickly built and finally delivers its first vehicles. The huge factory has 227,000 m2 of floor space and will eventually accommodate 12,000 employees. Enough to release 500,000 Model Ys each year and up to 50 GWh of battery.

On March 22, 2022, thirty Model Y Performance were delivered to German customers according to the press release. Only one version is currently produced, in order to simplify the processes and refine the start-up of the production chain. Until now produced in China, the Model Y should also be built in its “Great autonomy” variant very soon.

If you want a German Tesla, for the moment you have to settle for the top of the range at 66,990 euros, with an estimated delivery in April 2022. It offers a range of 514 km and a 0 to 100 in 3.7 seconds.

A new page for the 100% electric manufacturer who hopes to greatly free up its Chinese factory and certainly produce its Model 3 for Europe, these vehicles sharing a lot with the Model Y.
