Nantes cooled in Lyon (3-2), OL avoid a disappointment for their last at home

Olympique Lyonnais will have shown a good face for their last of the season at Groupama Stadium! In a great atmosphere, the Lyonnais won without major problems against a timid Nantes team (3-2). A result without real consequences for the two teams in the middle of the table. OL keep their 8th place just ahead of their evening opponent, FC Nantes (9th).

Even if the stake was almost non-existent for the two teams, they were keen to leave with the three points. In a rather noisy Groupama Stadium, the Lyonnais finally raised their heads again after their loss to Metz last week (3-2 defeat). A victory obtained after a good performance by Peter Bosz’s men, who nevertheless showed some shortcomings.

Dembele still decisive, Caqueret and Paqueta back

As so often this season, the game revolved around the attacking presence of Moussa Dembélé. While the ball, as usual, had difficulty circulating in the Lyon offensive animation, the crosses towards the Lyon striker multiplied. Dembélé then concluded with a header on one of his first attempts after a poor outing from Alban Lafont (9th, 1-0).

During the first period, the Lyonnais left almost no room for their opponents, multiplying dangerous actions, most of which were stopped by a very good Lafont today. At the start of the second half, it was finally the Nantes who got some good chances but Anthony Lopes watched over the grain. Imperial, the Lyon goalkeeper stopped many opposing attempts throughout the meeting.

It is finally at the very end of the match that all the goals are chained. Lucas Paqueta first deceived Lafont with a nice stung shot (78th, 2-0), before Quentin Merlin allowed Nantes to pick up on a deflected shot by Malo Gusto (81st, 2-1). Tete again allowed Lyon to break on a cross from Bradley Barcola deflected by Houssem Aouar (85th, 3-1). Wylan Cyprien meanwhile scored the last goal of the match on a ball lost by Barcola in the box and a superb low shot (90 + 2nd, 3-2).

A 3-2 final victory for OL who will have demonstrated once again this evening that despite their superiority in many offensive phases, many things still need to be corrected defensively in order to conclude the matches a little more calmly.
