Google reveals some new features of Android 13 to come

A few hours before Google I/O, some of the new features of Android 13 are teased by Google.

Wednesday, May 11 will mark the start of Google I/O 2022. This high mass organized every year by Google is traditionally the scene of many software innovations, both for the giant’s various services (Google Search, Google Assistant, Google Maps, etc.), but also for its various operating systems, and in particular Android.

Tomorrow, we should therefore discover some of the new features of Android 13, in addition to those already unveiled so far. In the meantime, Google does not hesitate to reveal certain information through Twitter polls.

Security, messages and updates for Android 13

The official Android account has published a poll on Twitter to ask fans of the brand what new features they expect the most for Google I/O. Four answers are proposed: new security, messaging, cross-device functionalities or new partnerships.

Obviously, Google does not want to disappoint anyone with this survey and it seems obvious that the 4 topics will be discussed during the event. In addition to the various additions within Android (data security, RCS, etc.), the ” cross-device updates suggests that we should see more of the interactions between the mobile system and Chrome OS, Google’s PC operating system. At CES 2022, Google also announced simplified connections between devices for audio transfers, such as theFast Pairbetween headphones and televisions.

Aesthetic novelties

Along with this, the Material Design account also launched a poll on the bluebird social network to discuss new developments in the visual style of Android:

Besides support for chatting with the team behind Material Design, the two options available are variable fonts and design and accessibility options. An obvious reminder of Roboto Flex, the announcement of a variable font offering many customization possibilities.

There is no doubt that the Google I / O will discover many new software around the Google ecosystem. It now remains to be seen whether this will also be the opportunity to see hardware there, and in particular the Pixel Watch or the Pixel 6a.
