We may well have a little more time to spare: while Apple’s mixed reality headset could have been released in the second quarter of next year, finally Ming-Chi Kuo predicts in the second semester. A delay that, according to the analyst, is due to the need to refine the software. The device’s operating system could also be called “xrOS,” according to a weekend rumor.
The necessary components for the production of the helmet would actually be delivered in the first quarter or during the first half of the year. Kuo also estimates that the amount of devices delivered by Apple will be ” less than 500,000 instead of the previously expected 800,000 to 1.2 million. Particularly low numbers in both cases, which may be the consequence of a salt price.
The same Kuo predicted a presentation event already in January, which is not incompatible with marketing six months later.
This will give developers time to design applications, as was the case for the Apple Watch (introduced in September 2014 with sales in April 2015) and for Apple chips (announced during WWDC 2020 and available at the end of the year). In both cases, however, Apple had provided development kits, will this also be the case for the headphones?
