Apple TV+ sets the world premiere date for “Surface” for Friday, July 29, 2022 and unveils the first image of the highly anticipated series starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
Produced by Apple Studios and Hello Sunshine, this new psychological thriller is signed by creator Veronica West.

Apple TV+ today revealed a first look at “Surface,” the new eight-episode psychological thriller from Veronica West (“High Fidelity”), which will premiere worldwide along with the first three episodes on Friday, July 29, 2022 on platform, followed by a new episode every Friday.

Set in upscale San Francisco, “Surface” stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“The Morning Show”), who also serves as an executive producer, as Sophie, a woman who suffered a brain injury that left her causes much of his memory to be lost, possibly as a result of a suicide attempt. As Sophie embarks on a quest to put her life back together with the help of her husband and friends, she begins to wonder if the truth she’s being told isn’t actually the truth she’s been told. lived. The cast alongside Mbatha-Raw includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen (“The Haunting of Hill House”), Stephan James (“If Beale Street Could Talk”), Ari Graynor (“I’m Dying Up Here”), Marianne Jean -Baptiste (“Secrets & Lies”), Oscar nominee François Arnaud (“I Killed My Mother”) and Millie Brady (“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”).
Surface is produced for Apple TV+ by Apple Studios and hello sunshine. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter are executive producing for Hello Sunshine. Emmy-nominated Sam Miller (“I May Destroy You”) directed four episodes of the series, including the pilot, and serves as executive producer. Kevin Sullivan, Jennifer Morrison and Tucker Gates also directed episodes.
The new series adds to a series of high-profile projects between Apple TV+ and Hello Sunshine, including the limited series “The Last Thing He Told Me”, based on the New York Times bestselling novel, and produced by Jennifer Garner , which is the star; Emmy, SAG and Critics Choice Award-winning series “The Morning Show”; and the third season of the NAACP Image Award-winning series “Truth Be Told,” which will star Octavia Spencer and Gabrielle Union.
