Apple TV: hiccups in Dolby Atmos for some users

Apple TV 4K users have been experiencing Dolby Atmos issues for a few months. In a long thread on Apple’s support forum (starting last September), there are reports of annoying audio glitches while playing content. This ranges from the complete or partial interruption of the audio stream to the desynchronization of the sound with the video.

Dolby Atmos promises to form a “sound bubble” around the viewer. Dolby picture.

It’s hard to pinpoint a culprit, since for some it’s the Apple TV app that bugs, while for others, more numerous however, the bugs mainly come from the Netflix app. Users have decided to disable Dolby Atmos in the settings Video and audio > audio format case, which solves the problem, but it’s not a very satisfying solution. tvOS 15.4.1, available at the end of March, does not change anything.
