Apple could offer iPad Pros with larger OLED screens as early as 2024

If the screen change for future iPad Pros has already been mentioned since last summer, they may also be (very slightly) enlarged.

It is the MacRumors site that reports a confirmation from monitor expert Ross Young. He believes that from 2024 Apple could offer iPad Pro 11.1 and 13 inches, slightly larger models than today.

A mini revolution

Last summer, Ross Young announced the upcoming arrival of the iPad equipped with an OLED screen. The display process will first be reserved for the 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, as the expert indicated. These are still equipped with LCD screen and mini-LED, for the 12.9-inch model. For its part, the South Korean site The Elec reported a little later that Apple could offer hybrid OLED technology, where the experience of flexible screens for its smartphones is not reliable for iPads.

Later this year, we learned from DigiTimes Asia that Apple had approached a new partner manufacturer. According to the article, the company has contributed financially to the development of the Taiwan SMT factory, including providing equipment dedicated to the production of mini-LED backlights. Another proof of the hybrid model that the apple giant is targeting.

2024, the year of change

But Apple wouldn’t stop there to offer updated versions of its high-end iPads. The company could also offer slightly larger models in 2024. The iPad Pro would then have an OLED diagonal of 11.1 and 13 inches. Bigger, really? Given the announced sizes, it seems very possible that this change is only related to a refinement of the borders and not to the overall design of the device.

Another interesting piece of information, Apple could also decide to equip its two iPad models with an OLED screen. The devices would then be identical in terms of their display, unlike now. Finally, if the latest iPad Pro models have already been updated with an M2 chip, these may be further improved in 2024. OLED screens may also appear on other iPad products. Apple, including 16-inch iPads rumored to be in the works.
