5 tips to soothe stings and itching

This year again, they managed to ruin the holidays of many French people: mosquitoes. If you are one of those who have been eaten by these little insects, you are not doomed to scratch indefinitely. Several solutions exist to soothe itching and swelling after a mosquito bite.

First, you can opt for an easy and inexpensive option like apple cider vinegar. Possessing an antiseptic effect, this one allows to calm the itching but also to treat. Unlike classic vinegar, it is much milder.

By staying in the kitchen, you can also opt for ice cubes. These are frequently used in case of hematomas since they calm the pain. Ice cubes can therefore be effective after a mosquito bite and will cause the targeted area to deflate. Concretely, you can use a washcloth filled with ice cubes. The cold tissue should be applied directly to the itch.

If you are looking for a slightly more original solution, you can opt for the use of essential oils. These have strong soothing properties. For example, those of eucalyptus and peppermint will be perfect. Only a few drops on a handkerchief or clean cloth may be enough. Then simply apply directly to the bite.

Other options are possible, such as alcohol compresses (70°). However, it should be avoided on infants. the baking soda more frequently used to whiten teeth is also an alternative. Dilute in 100ml of water, one to three tablespoons of baking soda.
